Original Kobunboku (好文木) is one of Japan’s most cherished incense blends, created by Baieido — a family incense house founded in 1657 in Sakai, Osaka. The name “Kobunboku” translates as “The Tree of Knowledge,” a poetic reference to the plum tree, whose early blossoms symbolise renewal, wisdom and purity. This classic composition has been treasured by monks and incense practitioners for centuries for its harmonious, contemplative fragrance.
Blending pure sandalwood with herbs, cinnamon, clove, and a hint of borneol, Kobunboku offers a warm and balanced aroma — clean yet complex, quietly uplifting and profoundly grounding. As the smoke drifts, it leaves behind a lingering sweetness and clarity that deepens focus and stillness. Ideal for meditation, prayer, or simply transforming an ordinary moment into a gentle ritual of peace.
